So, what's this blog all about, eh?

You may all remember that Tim wrote an email shortly after he sent out his volume of this magnificent opus in which he wondered aloud about the motivation behind some of our choices. I have also been thinking that we all need to engage in a bit more feed back. While I know that the first barage comments are likely to be along the lines of 'Where's me feckin CD's? It's been several months since the last one!', please be assured, things are being taken care of.

So, this weekend, I will post the tracklist, cover art and an explaination of my choices to the site and I hope that those of you who have already issued a CD will do the same. In fact, I am going to make it mandatory. Then, everyone will be free to give me a proper slagging for any dodgy selections I may have made, or alternatively, heap upon me the praise that is due for putting together such a visionary compilation.

Also, if anybody stumbles across any new stuff out there, please let us all know. For example, this month I am mostly digging Coulibaly by Amadou and Mariam from the album Dimanche a Bamako.

  1. By the way, I have kept comment posting access to this blog limited to just us, but I have also tried to give you all authoring rights so you can each create your own posts. If you are having any trouble with any of this, send me an email and I will do what I can, which probably means I'll have to go and ask someone who knows a lot more about this for a bit of a helping hand...

  2. Good work Steve. I've been very lazy about providing feedback on the cds so far so here is what I've learned so far:
John Cale's Hallelujah pisses all over the Jeff Buckley version, thanks Kevin. The National are pretty good and I really like that Gillian Welch track from Kate's cd. Those are the main things that immediately spring to mind.
This month I have mostly been listening to Twinkle twinkle little star and some lullaby renditions of some indie classics, but it's ok they probably won't make it into my top 20.

  3. Golly goshdarnit, a blog! Delighted to see I'm not up until July, as I thought I was May.

John Cale's Hallelujah does indeed rule them all, with fists of steel.

I suppose the rest of this comment should be about music or something...

  4. Thank you 'test1' (aka Loughlin). Haven't had a chance to check out the links yet, but a Nirvana/Rick Astley mash-up has certainly caught my attention.

Now, who on earth is 'redspotblue'?
